MUMBAI: The foundation stone of the Lata Mangeshkar music academy will be laid on a civic plot in Mira Road on Wednesday. The Mangeshkar family, including the late singer’s sisters Asha Bhosale and Meena Khadikar, will be present for the event. CM Eknath Shinde and both the DCMs will attend the event, being held a day before the late singer’s birth anniversary on September 28.
The proposal was mooted last year by Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik.The state this year allocated Rs 25 crore for the academy. The state government has already decided to establish the Bharat Ratna Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar International College of Music and Museum in the Mumbai University’s Kalina campus. The college has started conducting classes at the temporary premises in the Ravindra Natya Mandir in Prabhadevi since January. TNN

Poshak Cloud Academy of Bgavi launched in UK dist
Rajalakshmi Children Foundation's Poshak Cloud Academy has expanded its Prathibha Poshak program to Uttara Kannada district in Karnataka, India. The program aims to identify talented students from underprivileged backgrounds and provide them with resources and training to excel academically. The Foundation has distributed tablets to selected students and trained them in their use. This year, 250 students from seven educational districts have been selected for the program. The Foundation covers the cost of tablets, teacher salaries, and outbound activities, spending Rs 70,000 per student over two years. The program seeks to address disparities in education caused by unequal access to digital resources and qualified teachers.
