JD(S) will take action against Suraj: GT Devegowda

Mysuru: JD(S) core committee chief and senior JD(S) MLA GT Devegowda on Sunday said the party will initiate action against MLC Suraj Revanna.
However, Union minister for steel and heavy industries HD Kumaraswamy, who is also Suraj’s uncle, refrained from commenting on the case. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Kumaraswamy stated, “Why are you asking me? I have no knowledge about the case.Whatever has to happen, the law will take its own course.”
While Devegowda distanced the party from the controversy, he said the party will discuss the case filed against the legislator and take action.
He contended that the party is not embarrassed by Suraj’s arrest. “If one person from Karnataka does something wrong, can the whole of 6.5 crore Kannadigas be held responsible? But we have taken note of his arrest and will initiate action,” he told reporters in Mysuru.
But he claimed that he has no information about the case even as he stated that he will not protect the guilty. “We did not interfere in the Prajwal Revanna case either,” he claimed.
The state BJP chief BY Vijayendra refused to comment about the case.
Mandya district in-charge minister N Cheluvarayaswamy denied suggestions that his govt was targeting the Revanna family. “Police registered a complaint and counter complaint. Where is politics in this?” the minister told reporters in Mandya. “It is best if the case is not discussed.”
Yathindra Siddaramaiah, Congress MLC, said the govt has given police a free hand to investigate the case and they will “impartially unearth the truth”. “There is no political conspiracy against the Revanna family or JD(S),” he said.
