NASHIK: A man lost his life in a lightning strike in the Nashik district and three houses were damaged as heavy rain lashed parts of Nandgaon, Chandwad, Nandgaon and Yeola talukas of Nashik district on Tuesday evening and Yeola talukas of Nashik district on Tuesday evening, said the district administration.
The deceased, identified as Vilas Gaikwad, was a 28-year-old farm worker from Nandgaon taluka.
He was struck by lightning in Khadgaon village of the Taluka at 4pm.
"The farm worker was on his way home when the incident occurred. He is survived by his parents, wife, a son aged about a year-and-a-half and a 6-month-old daughter," said sources in the district administration. Govt aid for the relatives of the deceased would be provided soon, the sources added.
Moreover, three houses were damaged as a tree fell on them in Nandgaon taluka. The district administration has noted the damage.
The heavy rain also led to water gushing through nullahs, streams, roads and even farms in the villages.
Very heavy rainfall was also recorded at Parsul village in Chandwad taluka.
Lightning also killed two livestock animals in two different villages of the Chandwad taluka.
