YEIDA to acquire 1,900ha more to free land near airport
Noida: Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has decided to acquire an additional 1,861 hectares in Tappal village of Aligarh, where a multimodal logistics park and other infrastructure projects are set to come up.
The Authority had initially issued a notification to acquire 736 hectares. But the latest decision to acquire the additional 1,861 hectares was driven by reports of rampant encroachment on the land that is close to the upcoming Noida international airport.

Over the past few months, YEIDA conducted several demolition drives to remove illegal structures in Tappal. It also issued notices to around 300 encroachers in areas such as Jewar and Jahangirpur in Noida and Mathura.
But now, the Authority board has decided to officially take possession of the land in Tappal. A proposal has been sent to the state govt, which is likely to issue a notification soon, according to sources.
Once that is done, any illegal colony is likely to be demolished.
“A lot of illegal colonies are being constructed around Tappal, which is close to the airport site. We will acquire the entire land and include it in our master plan. No illegal construction will be spared here,” said Arun Vir Singh, the Authority CEO.
Officials said YEIDA had earmarked land for various projects other than the logistics park in Tappal. If the proposal to acquire the additional hectares is approved, the Authority will have enough land at hand to execute these projects.

The first phase of the multimodal logistics park would be developed on 200 hectares while the entire project would encompass 950 hectares.
In the first phase, 10 hectares have been designated for commercial use, 12 hectares for institutional use and 24 hectares for building houses.
Additionally, the park will feature ancillary and support facilities, including a truck parking area, gated complex, platform and a siding area.
The Authority will invest Rs 990 crore on acquiring land and developing basic facilities. The private concessionaire will not just develop the park but operate it for 45 years as well. Although tenders were previously issued for this project under the PPP model, no developer was eventually selected.
