After LS elections, BJP & RJD gear up for assembly polls
Patna: The BJP and RJD, two major political parties of the NDA and Grand Alliance (GA), respectively, are gearing up to tone up their organisations around 16 months in advance in their efforts to make preparation for the next assembly elections due in 2025.
The BJP has taken the lead by conducting both state-level and booth-level review meetings. The decision to conduct booth-level review exercise was taken at the meeting held a day after the Lok Sabha election results were out on June 4.
State BJP spokesman Prem Ranjan Patel said, “Other than the booth-level review, our state level review meeting will be held in Patna on June 13.”

Patel added, “Each booth-level committee will find out the reasons as to why people, including beneficiaries of central schemes, voted for the INDIA bloc candidates. The stress is also on increasing the number of our supporters.”
The participants in the BJP’s state-level meeting on June 13 would include district presidents, state level district incharges, Lok Sabha incharges and conveners, as well as others concerned.
The recent Lok Sabha election results have been a wake-up call for both parties. The BJP-led NDA fell short of their expectations, winning only 30 out of the 40 seats in Bihar. The RJD, despite Tejashwi Yadav’s popularity, could only secure four seats. This has prompted both parties to introspect and identify areas where they need to improve.

On the other hand, the RJD is also keen on holding a state level meeting to discuss the reasons for their less than expected performance in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections and to prepare for the upcoming assembly elections.
RJD spokesman Chitranjan Gagan said, “Our party neta Tejashwi Prasad Yadav has returned to Patna. In a day or two, the decision will be taken with mutual consultation on fixing the date for the state-level review meeting.”
Gagan added, “The party leaders will also decide as to who all from the state down to the district, block or booth-level units have to participate in the review meeting. Naturally, the preparations to be made for the next assembly elections will also be on agenda.”
Despite the not so enthusing Lok Sabha results, the RJD workers showed enthusiasm while celebrating the 77th birth anniversary of the party chief Lalu Prasad on Tuesday.
Both the BJP and RJD are focusing on strengthening their organizational structure and increasing their support base in the run-up to the 2025 Bihar assembly elections. While the BJP has already initiated booth-level and state-level review meetings to analyse their performance and strategize for the future, the RJD is planning to hold similar meetings soon.
The enthusiasm shown by RJD workers during Lalu Prasad's birthday celebrations, despite the disappointing election results, indicates that the party is not disheartened and is ready to put up a strong fight in the upcoming assembly elections.
As both parties gear up for the 2025 Bihar assembly elections, it will be interesting to see how they adapt their strategies based on the lessons learned from the recent Lok Sabha polls. The next 16 months will be crucial for both the BJP and RJD.
