Lalu Prasad on Tuesday celebrated his 77th birthday with his
family and party workers. On this occasion, Lalu asked the party workers to work for poor and deprived sections of the society. He also asked them to ensure that Ganga-Jamuna culture of the country remains preserved.
Lalu’s birthday cerebrations began with cutting of cake at midnight with his family.
On Tuesday morning, he cut a 77-pound cake with party leaders and workers at 10, Circular Road Bungalow, the official residence allotted to former CM Rabri Devi. His daughter Rohini Acharya and son Tej Pratap shared photos of their father’s birthday celebrations and extended wishes to him on social media.
Party workers too were enthusiastic on Lalu’s birthday and had decorated the party office here with lights. The RJD workers also celebrated their party president’s birthday across the state. “Birthday was celebrated across all the districts and block offices. On the occasion, cake was cut and sweets were distributed. Religious rituals were also organised at various temples and feasts were organised for poor. We also distributed notebooks and stationery items amongst the poor students,” said RJD state spokesperson, Chitranjan Gagan.
Birthday wishes too poured in from across the country, with leaders including Congress former national president Sonia Gandhi, Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Rahul Gandhi extending birthday greetings to Lalu. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and TDP leader Chandra Babu Naidu also wished Lalu. Others who wished Lalu included chief ministers of Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Jharkhand, MK Stalin, Mamata Banerjee and Champai Soren respectively; Union ministers Jitan Ram Manjhi and Chirag Paswan; CPI (ML) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya; CPM leader Sitaram Yechury; CPI leader D Raja; former Union minister Upendra Kushwaha and others.
