BEGUSARAI: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said the NDA needed to win more than 400 seats in the Lok Sabha polls to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the country and construct a grand temple at Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna.
Addressing an election rally in favour of senior BJP neta and Union minister Giriraj Singh in Begusarai, Sarma slammed the Congress and its allies for "raising question mark" on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

"For reintegration of PoK and construction of Lord Krishna temple at Mathura, the NDA needs 400-plus seats. The BJP is committed to correcting the historical wrongs," Sarma said.
"PM Narendra Modi is seeking 400-plus mandate to add Gyanvapi to the grandeur of Kashi Vishwanath temple. We will correct all the wrongs done by Babur and Aurangzeb to protect the culture and legacy of the country," he added.
Sarma accused the Congress, TMC and RJD of attempting to provide backdoor reservation to Muslims. "The Constitution provides reservation to SC, ST and OBCs. There is no provision for reservation on the basis of religion in the Constitution. However, the Congress and its allies are conspiring against the other backward caste community to pave way for reservation to Muslims under the garb of a broader OBC framework," he said.
The Assam CM said the Congress that talks about being secular should know that secularism is inherent to Sanatan and that's why other cults and religions sustain and flourish in India. Lambasting the Congress's appeasement policy, Sarma said Muslims constitute 36% of Assam's total population. "Earlier, they used to have two or three wives. However, I have clearly said that polygamy will not be tolerated. Besides, the practice of child marriage among Muslim girls was also prevalent earlier. I took strict action against such marriages and things began to fall in line," he said.
