Rlys installs lifts & escalators at stns
Patna: The East Central Railway (ECR) has completed the installation of 33 escalators and 49 lifts at all its major stations falling under its jurisdiction for the ease of passengers, specially senior citizens and women. The process to install 35 more escalators and 34 lifts at different stations, including Patna Junction, is already underway in the current 2024-25 fiscal.

According to the ECR’s chief public relations officer (CPRO) Saraswati Chandra, railways will install four more escalators and lifts at the Patna Junction following a sudden increase in the footfall of passengers. “The Patna Junction already has escalator and lift facilities on platform numbers 1 and 10,” he said, adding that these facilities will also be available on platform numbers 4 and 5 soon.
Besides, the railways has started the process of installing two escalators each at Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Patna Sahib, Danapur, Ara, Hajipur and Gaya stations while an equal number of escalators are being installed at Parasnath, Garwah Road and Daltonganj stations.
“While Koderma station will have four escalators, efforts are on to install two escalators each at Sasaram, DDU, Muzaffarpur, Khagaria and Saharsa,” the CPRO said, adding that Darbhanga will have one more escalator soon.
Similarly, railways has started the installation of more lifts at Patna Junction (four), followed by Rajendra Nagar Terminal (one), Patna Sahib (two), Danapur (four), Ara (two), DDU (two), Sarasam (one), Anugrah Road (one), Dehri on Sone (two), Khagaria (two), Raxaul (two), Jaynagar (two), Dhanabd (one), Koderma (two), Gomoh (two), Parasnath (two) and Singrauli (two).
