Patna: With Bakrid round the corner, preparations have started at Gandhi Maidan, Eidgahs, mosques and other designated places across Patna, where large number of people congregate to offer namaz. The district authorities have ramped up security measures to ensure a peaceful Bakrid, which is on June 17. Officials have been directed to keep special vigil at sensitive places.
Patna district magistrate Shirsat Kapil Ashok directed the officials to complete all the necessary arrangements regarding cleanliness, parking, law and order, water supply and lighting among others at Gandhi Maidan.
The executive officer of the new capital circle, Patna Municipal Corporation, will ensure timely and proper cleaning and prevent the stray animals from entering the ground. Executive engineer of PHED, in coordination with Namaz-e-Eidan Committee, will ensure proper water supply by arranging appropriate number of water tankers/kiosks. Traffic police have been asked to identify and make parking spaces for vehicles. Engineers of building construction department will ensure barricading, filling of potholes and levelling of ground. All the closed-circuit television cameras have been ordered to be kept in working condition. A team of doctors, paramedical staff and ambulances with necessary life-saving medicines will also be deputed. District fire officer was directed to ensure deputation of fire squad to deal with the emergency situation, if any.
The DM instructed the additional district magistrate to place adequate number of police force and magistrates to maintain law and order, and the officers to keep strict vigil against anti-social elements. Kapil also asked the police officers to keep their social media monitoring cell active and refute rumours quickly. Besides, the sub-divisional officers and sub-divisional police officers have been asked to organise peace committee meetings.
“The police station house officers will ensure regular patrolling in their areas. All officers will keep special vigilance at sensitive places, take preventive action against anti-social elements,” he said.
