Tongues wag as Kushwaha wishes Lalu on birthday

Patna: A post by Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) president Upendra Kushwaha on social media wishing RJD chief Lalu Prasad on his 77th birthday has triggered debate in the political circles. However, the party clarified that nothing should be read into this.
In his three-line post on X, Kushwaha, who lost the Karakat seat in the just-concluded Lok Sabha elections, referred to Lalu as the “great warrior of social justice of his time”.
Although extending birthday wishes to seniors is nothing new, what has drawn everyone’s attention is the “content of the greetings”, analysts said. Last year, Kushwaha’s post extending birthday wish to Lalu was very simple. Lalu celebrated his 77th birthday on Tuesday.
“Nothing should be read into this. We are firmly with the NDA and will work together in future,” RLM’s spokesperson Ram Pukar Sinha told the TOI on Wednesday.
