Two arrested on charge of robbing trader

Two men, including a criminal with a police record, assaulted and robbed a garment trader in Bahul village near Chakan, stealing Rs 4.8 lakh. The incident occurred between 11.30am and 8pm on Sunday, leading to the trader filing a complaint with the Chakan police.

PUNE: The Chakan police on Monday arrested two men, including a criminal on police records, on the charge of assaulting and robbing a garment trader of Khed taluka.
The robbery happened between 11.30am and 8pm on Sunday at Bahul village near Chakan in which the robbers stole Rs 4.8 lakh. The trader filed a complaint with the Chakan police on Monday.
Assistant inspector Prasanna Jarhad of the Chakan police said the complainant and the two arrested individuals knew each other.

“The complainant told us that on Sunday morning, the accused called him near an eatery in Bahul village. When the complainant reached there, the accused assaulted him with iron rods,” he said.
“The victim claimed that they forcibly took Rs 4.8 lakh that was kept in the glove box of the car,” he added.
