Probe on in Giridih bridge girder collapse
Bokaro: Road construction department officials have launched a probe after the girder of an under-construction bridge over Arga river at Bhelwaghati in Giridih district, bordering Bihar, collapsed late on Saturday night owing to incessant rain. Officials are looking into the alleged irregularities in the civil work. Giridih DC Naman Priyesh Lakra said, “The bridge over Arga river is a part of a 16-km road project connecting Bihar’s Jamui district, about 1km from the bridge.
The Fatehpur-Bhelwaghati road is significant as it cut short the distance by 50 km. The current route is through Chakai.”
