‘Public angry over broken promises’
Shimla: Senior BJP leader and Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur on Sunday said “sunk in arrogance” the Congress govt in Himachal Pradesh had put the extra burden of three assembly byelections on the state as it was “afraid of defeat” due to its “ineffectiveness and broken promises”.
The upcoming bypoll on three assembly seats should actually have been held along with the Lok Sabha elections and byelections on six assembly seats, but the Congress govt did not do so due to fear of defeat, Anurag said while addressing public meetings at Mohi, Nalti, Anu and Nalwin in favour of Ashish Sharma – the BJP candidate for the Hamirpur assembly seat.

He said the public was angry over repeated code of conduct enforcements, stalled development works and additional burden on state exchequer and was “ready to punish the Congress for its misdeeds”.
“Public support is with the BJP in the byelections and all the three party candidates in the fray are going to register big victories,” he said.
The Congress neither did anything for the state nor for Hamirpur in the 18 months of its rule. Congress leaders instead tried to cheat the innocent people of the state by extending false guarantees and fake promises. In just 18 months of its tenure, the Congress has increased the debt of the state by Rs 25,000 crore, said the former Union minister.
When there was a double-engine govt in Himachal, the BJP got a lot of development done in the state, but as soon as the Congress came to power, the development works came to a halt, claimed Anurag Thakur.
He said the people saw the real face of the Congress when there was a disaster in Himachal last year. The Modi govt had immediately provided Rs 1,762 crore for relief, said Anurag.
