THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rainfall lashed various regions of
Kerala on Thursday, prompting the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a yellow alert for six out of the state's 14 districts.
The IMD issued a yellow alert for the following districts on Thursday: Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Malappuram.
Additionally, a yellow alert was issued for the following seven districts on Friday: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki.
A 'yellow alert' indicates the likelihood of heavy rainfall ranging from 6 to 11 cm.
The IMD also forecasted the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds at isolated locations within the Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kannur districts of Kerala during the day.
