The eighth installment of the popular "Mission: Impossible" film series has added another exciting cast member, Tramell Tillman, who gained recognition for his role in the hit Apple TV+ series "Severance." Known for his breakout performance in the show, Tillman will now be joining Tom Cruise and a host of other familiar faces in the upcoming "Mission: Impossible 8."

Previously titled "Dead Reckoning Part Two," the film has dropped this title but promises to continue the high-stakes action that fans have come to expect from the franchise.
While plot details for the new movie are being kept under wraps, Tillman’s character is expected to play a key role in the latest adventure of Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise).

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One

Tillman has received nominations for both the SAG Awards and the Spirit Awards for his role in "Severance," where he starred alongside actors like Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, and John Turturro. In addition to "Severance," Tillman has appeared in shows such as "Dietland," "Godfather of Harlem," and "Hunters." He is set to return for the second season of "Severance," but his new role in "Mission: Impossible 8" adds to his rising profile in the entertainment industry.

The film's director, Christopher McQuarrie, is overseeing production and has brought together a strong cast that includes both newcomers and returning veterans. Along with Tillman, the newcomers include Katy O’Brian, Nick Offerman, and Hannah Waddingham. The returning cast features Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Czerny, Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, and Vanessa Kirby. Despite the shake-ups due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, which began in July 2023 and delayed production, filming resumed in March 2024, with new scenes being shot in the United Kingdom and other international locations.
"Mission: Impossible 8" will feature some of the most daring stunts yet, as shown by behind-the-scenes images of Tom Cruise performing high-risk action sequences. Filming is being done with IMAX digital cameras, allowing for a three-week run in IMAX theaters compared to the one-week run of "Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One."
The story picks up where "Dead Reckoning Part One" left off, with Ethan Hunt and his team racing against time to find and destroy The Entity, a powerful AI that threatens global security. Given the film's scope and the ongoing success of the franchise, it’s likely that "Mission: Impossible 8" will not be the last installment, with director McQuarrie hinting at a potential ninth movie in the future.
The untitled eighth "Mission: Impossible" film is set to hit theaters in the United States on May 23, 2025.
