It’s play time for the students of BNA

Theatre lovers enjoyed one of the classic plays written by the famous Russian playwright and short story writer, Anton Chekhov titled Mama Vanya staged at Bhartendu Natya Academy (BNA).

The evening began with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guests Mukesh Kumar Meshram, Anil Rastogi and Aubrey Mellor.Famous Australian dramaturge, theatre director, and actor Mellor came specially to Lucknow to direct the second-year students of BNA for two months, creating a marvelous theatre performance that left the audience spellbound. “BNA has been very kind to me and the students here are fantastic,” said the Australian director commending the talented students. Dinesh Khanna, BNA director, welcomed Mellor and conveyed his gratitude to the Australian director for promoting BNA and connecting other drama schools with the students.

A tragic-comedy play translated into Hindi by Dr Madhu took the audience present in the thrust auditorium on a humorous yet realistic journey making them laugh amidst the turmoil and adversity of life. The actors received a standing ovation for their performance. The protagonist Mama Vanya played by Sanjay Yadav, amused everyone with his performance. “It was for the first time as an actor that we learned about the techniques and mechanisms used besides emotions in acting. It was a different experience of theatre learning under the guidance of Aubrey Mellor sir,” said Sanjay.
