Actor Indira Krishnan who is prepping hard for his magnum opus Ranbir Kapoor's 'Ramayana', has reacted to Adil Hussain's comment about 'Animal' and the film’s director Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
Indira Krishnan played the role of Rashmika Mandanna’s mother in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal (2023). In an interview with Hindustan Times, Indira stated that hat she was surprised by Hussain’s comments about 'Animal' and its director, Krishnan said that she completely respects Adil as a fine artist, but acknowledged that differences of opinion can arise between actors and directors.
She noted that while Hussain's view and experience with Sandeep are personal to him, her own experience and perspective of the director were different.
Weighing in on the conversation surrounding toxic masculinity and misogyny portrayed in 'Animal', Krishnan defended Vanga’s approach. She expressed her support for Sandeep Reddy, emphasizing the importance of being open to the director's vision and the characters' portrayals when watching a film.
Meanwhile, Hussain has been critical of Vanga’s 'Animal'. The actor had previously worked with Vanga in Kabir Singh, a film that also faced criticism for being misogynistic. Later, Hussain publicly expressed regret over his involvement in the film. This expression of regret did not sit well with Vanga, who called Hussain "greedy" and said he regretted casting him. Vanga even suggested he would use artificial intelligence (AI) to replace Hussain’s face in the film. This sparked a verbal altercation between the two.
Reacting to one of the controversial scenes where Ranbir's character sleeps with Triptii Dimri’s character Zoya and then tells her to lick his shoes. Krishna opined that it reflects the director’s vision of Rannvijay and his interactions with the character. She suggested that it is high time audiences watch films for entertainment without taking things too much to heart.
On the other hand, Indira who is part of Nitesh Tiwari's epic drama 'Ramayana', shared a BTS picture with Ranbir Kapoor from the sets of the film and also dedicated a gratitude post to him.

Indira posted a picture with Ranbir. In the picture, Ranbir can be seen donning a light-blue half-sleeves shirt and matching jeans, while Indira wore a red kurti. She captioned her post as, “Animaling…....Thank u fr ur care ,love and kindness and ur wonderful gestures Ranbirrr...costar.”
Reportedly, Indira is playing the character of Lord Ram's mother Queen Kaushalya in Nitesh Tiwari's epic. It also stars Sai Pallavi, Yash, Arun Govil and Lara Dutta in pivotal roles.
