Andrea’s new film, with Bobby Antony, is a murder mystery
Andrea Jeremiah will be playing the lead in the debut directorial of choreographer Bobby Antony, who has worked in films like Kalakalappu, Saguni, Purampokku
Engira Podhuvudamai and Chandiveeran.
“This is a crime film, a murder mystery. Andrea will be seen in a role she has not done before,” begins the director, and explains why he chose the actress for this role. “After a certain point, the story will move into a different world and her character, who kills someone, will be carrying the entire story forward, so I felt that she would be apt for this character.
She is an actress who neither underplays nor overdoes things when it comes to performance and I love this ‘performance metre’ of hers. I never thought of anyone else for this role and she, too, became totally involved with the film right after she heard the narration,” he says and adds that the actress will not be having a pair in the movie.
Papanasam fame Asha Sharath will be seen in the role of an assistant commissioner in this film, which will have Kaali Venkat playing the role of a sub-inspector. “His role will be as impactful as the one he played in Ratsasan,” says Bobby. Santhosh Prathap and Bala Saravanan, too, are part of this film, which will have Sha Ra and Japan Kumar providing some humour.
“The story will touch upon an issue related to women and question why we tend to ignore certain crimes that happen frequently,” says the director who has been a choreographer in the film industry for 13-14 years. “I started my career in 1999, with Kala Master, and then worked with Chinni Prakash. I entered the industry hoping to become a director, but my life began, thanks to dance. After having made a name for myself as a choreographer, I wanted to make my direction dream come true and started writing this script. I have worked on it for quite some time,” he elaborates on his journey so far. Akhil George, who has shot Malayalam films like Kala, The Priest and Forensic, will be the cinematographer of this film. Game Over and Maya fame Ron Ethan Yohan has been roped in to do the music. Anthony Bhagyaraj, who has written the dialogues of Irumbu Thirai, and Savarimuthu will be writing the dialogues of this film along with the director.
The puja of the film, which is set in Chennai, happened in the city on Saturday, and the team is planning to wrap up the shoot in a single schedule.
