After a few weeks of the controversy surrounding the
song Saranga Dariya from
Love Story, director
Sekhar Kammula met singer
Komali in person on Wednesday, promising to give her an opportunity to sing in his next film.
He also stated that it is miscommunication between Komali and his team that led to the whole issue. Komali had said, “I have reached out to various sections of the media as I was unable to contact Sekhar Kammula sir.
I was on-board to sing Saranga Dariya but it’s unfortunate that I could not. He has now met me and promised me an opportunity in his next film. I have also been assured I’ll sing the song at the audio launch or pre-release event of Love Story. I thank Sekhar Kammula for keeping the rural folk voices alive and bringing such art to the forefront in mainstream cinema.”
Saranga Dariya, which features
Sai Pallavi in the video, was popularised by Komali on a reality show. Lyric writer Suddala Ashoka Teja penned additional lyrics for his number that sees vocals by
Mangli. Komali earlier alleged that the film’s team had promised her credit and turned a blind eye. However, the director clarified that they only found an alternate singer as Komali was suffering from a cold when they needed to record. “We promised Komali credits in the movie and the audio launch, if it happens. She will also be paid,” he had written on social media.
