Bansgaon, a town and Nagar Panchayat in Gorakhpur District, is one of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP's Kamlesh Paswan emerged victorious, securing 56.41% of the votes and defeating BSP's Sadal Prasad with a margin of 1,53,468 votes. The polling in Bansgaon took place during the sixth phase on June 1.
BJP's Kamlesh Paswan won with a vote margin of 3150 votes against Congress' Sadal Prasad.

The 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Bansgaon witnessed a closely fought battle, with a voter turnout of 55.28%. Kamlesh Paswan of the BJP secured a total of 5,46,673 votes, while Sadal Prasad of the BSP obtained 3,93,205 votes, resulting in a victory margin of 1,53,468 votes for Kamlesh Paswan.

In the 2014 general election, Kamlesh Paswan of the BJP had also emerged victorious in the Bansgaon parliamentary seat, defeating Sadal Prasad of the Bahujan Samaj Party. Paswan garnered 47.6% of the votes, amounting to 4,17,959 votes, while Prasad received 2,28,443 votes, resulting in a substantial victory margin of 1,89,516 votes for Kamlesh Paswan.
Bansgaon is categorized as an SC (Scheduled Caste) parliamentary seat, with a literacy rate of 60.68%. According to the 2011 census, the constituency has approximately 403,445 SC voters, constituting around 23.1% of the total electorate, and approximately 22,705 ST (Scheduled Tribe) voters, making up about 1.3% of the voter base.
