In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Santosh Gangwar of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) contested against Bhagwat Saran Gangwar of SP and Praveen Singh Aron of Congress. Santosh Kumar Gangwar emerged victorious, securing the seat for the BJP. Gangwar, a veteran politician, had previously held the position and successfully retained it. He garnered a total of 565,270 votes in the 2019 elections. In the 2014 elections, Santosh Kumar Gangwar had defeated Ayesha Islam of SP by securing 5,18,258 votes.

The Triumph of Santosh Kumar Gangwar in the 2014 elections, marked a significant turning point that broke the dominance of the Indian National Congress (INC). While Congress had a strong presence in the region, the emergence of regional parties and the BJP has added complexity to the political landscape.
