'Those who want to drag my name ... ': Tejashwi hits back at BJP's allegations linking him to NEET paper leak

In response to allegations from the BJP linking him to paper leak cases in Bihar, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Friday called Chief Minister Nitish Kumar the "mastermind" behind the leaks. Tejashwi, countering the BJP, suggested the government should probe his PS or PA instead of diverting the issue from the main culprit. He urged authorities to investigate parties closely associated with the chief conspirator rather than misdirecting the investigation.
'Those who want to drag my name ... ': Tejashwi hits back at BJP's allegations linking him to NEET paper leak
NEW DELHI: In his first reaction to the BJP's allegations linking him to the NEET paper leak cases in Bihar, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Friday called CM Nitish Kumar, an ally of the BJP, "mastermind" of the paper leaks.
Hitting back at the Bihar deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha's charge, Tejashwi said whenever the BJP comes to power, the incidents of paper leaks happen and asked the government to call his PS or PA for the probe instead of "diverting" the issue from the kingpin.

"The INDIA alliance is united on this issue. We want the NEET exam to be immediately cancelled...The (BJP) have all the investigation agencies, they can call the PS or PA anyone for probe...They want to divert the issue from the kingpin...Those who want to drag my name or my PA's name, this will not benefit anyone...The engineer who is talked about could be a beneficiary but Amit Anand and Nitish Kumar are the masterminds of the paper leak. The people of the country know that whenever BJP comes to power, then paper leaks happen," the Bihar's ex-deputy CM told news agency ANI.
Tejashwi's comments come in the backdrop of Bihar deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha alleging that the prime accused is linked to an aide of the leader of opposition in the Bihar assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav.
At a press conference, Sinha released a list of phone calls made by Tejashwi's personal secretary, Pritam Kumar, to a staff member of the road construction department to book accommodation in an NHAI guesthouse for Sikandar K Yadvendu, alleged to be the mastermind of the alleged NEET paper leak.
"The state government is theirs; the Central government belongs to them. The investigating agencies are under them. I will tell the CM, call my assistant. Whether it is my PA or PS, summon them and conduct an inquiry. The questions that the Deputy CM is raising...the EOU doesn't report to him. They don't know anything," Sinha had alleged.
According to Economic Offences Unit sources, four of the arrested accused have confessed that question papers were arranged for some candidates a day before the exam. The candidates paid around Rs 30 lakh to Rs 32 lakh for the leaked question papers. The confessions came from Anurag, his uncle Sikandar Yadavendu, and two others who are believed to be among the masterminds behind the paper leak, police sources said.
