NEW DELHI: South Africa secured a three-wicket victory over West Indies using the Duckworth-Lewis method in a critical match for a semi-final spot at the Twenty20 World Cup in Antigua on Sunday. This win allowed the unbeaten Proteas to join England in the last four as Group 2 winners.
The thrilling match determined a semi-final qualification, showcasing resilience from both teams.
By using the Duckworth-Lewis method, South Africa managed to outscore West Indies, ensuring their place in the next stage of the competition.
With this victory, South Africa maintained an unbeaten record, solidifying their position alongside England as the top teams in Group 2. The team's performance was pivotal in guaranteeing their advancement to the semi-finals.
Both teams' performance in the group stage and Super 8 has shown resilience and determination, setting the stage for interesting matchups in the semi final stage.
Fast bowler Chris Jordan claimed a hat trick, and the American cricket team lost five wickets in six balls, as England secured its spot in the semifinals of the Twenty20 World Cup on Sunday. Defending champion England triumphed over the United States by 10 wickets with 62 balls remaining in their last Super Eight game.
Jordan, who replaced pacer Mark Wood, dismantled the U.S. batting lineup by grabbing four wickets off five balls in his final over. This performance reduced the U.S. to 115 runs in 18.5 overs. By achieving this feat, Jordan became the first Englishman to clinch a hat trick in T20 internationals. He finished with impressive figures of 4-10 in 2.5 overs on the Caribbean island of Barbados, his place of birth.

The other two semifinalists will be determined on Monday. India will face Australia in St Lucia, and Afghanistan will take on Bangladesh in St Vincent in the final two matches of the Super Eight stage.
India is particularly driven this year, aiming to end their global title drought since the 2013 Champions Trophy. "There is real keenness in the group to go and do something special," remarked India captain Rohit Sharma on Tuesday. "That's a good way to start the second stage of the tournament."

Australia is grappling with significant challenges in both batting and fielding after their underwhelming performance against Afghanistan. Captain Mitchell Marsh, who has managed just 88 runs in six games at a strike rate of 111, must step up against India. Additionally, off-spinner Glenn Maxwell’s economy rate of 8.58 runs per over is a worrying factor.
Australia’s recent match against Afghanistan highlighted these concerns. Mitchell Marsh, as the team captain, has struggled to make an impact with the bat.
These performance issues are crucial for Australia as they prepare to take on India.
