Jitesh Sharma to lead Punjab Kings in their final game of the season

Jitesh will be the third man to lead the Punjab Kings this season after Shikhar Dhawan, who has been out of action since injuring his shoulder while fielding during the home game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 9, and English all-rounder Sam Curran.

MUMBAI: Punjab Kings on Saturday announced Jitesh Sharma as the captain for their final game of the ongoing Indian Premier League season. He will lead Punjab in their game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, set to take place at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Sunday.
Jitesh will take charge from Sam Curran, who has returned to England for international duty in their T20I series against Pakistan before the T20 World Cup in USA and West Indies.

Jitesh will be the third man to lead the Punjab Kings this season after Shikhar Dhawan, who has been out of action since injuring his shoulder while fielding during the home game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 9, and English all-rounder Curran.
The match will be of academic value only as the Punjab Kings are already out of the race for IPL 2024 playoffs, while the Sunrisers have made the cut, after their last match was washed out.
The Punjab Kings have already lost South African pacer Kagiso Rabada, who was suffering from abscesses and flew back to South Africa to take treatment.
Curran and Jonny Bairstow left for UK after the Punjab Kings' penultimate match against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on Wednesday, while Liam Livingstoen had left earlier.
The Punjab Kings also lost English pace bowling all-rounder Chris Woakes, who left for home due to the death of his father, Roger Woakes, a few days back.
