Here's everything you need to know about the new number 1 contender for WWE NXT Title

"WWE NXT" delivered on its promise to showcase "different" competitors this week, featuring surprise entries from TNA Wrestling stars Joe Hendry and Frankie Kazarian in the opening number one contender's battle royal. Despite being fresh faces, neither Kazarian nor Hendry secured victory, which ultimately went to Je'Von Evans.
Soon after the match began, a fiery Ethan Page confronted Hendry. However, before Page could attack the former TNA Digital Media Champion, Oro Mensah, driven by revenge, started a brawl with Page, effectively eliminating him from contention. With Page distracted, several competitors teamed up to eliminate Hendry.
As the battle royal progressed, the final four competitors emerged: Je'Von Evans, Shawn Spears,
Dragon Lee, and Frankie Kazarian. Evans dramatically eliminated Kazarian by throwing him over the top rope. Turning his attention to Lee, Evans exchanged strikes with the former NXT North American Champion, allowing Spears to intervene and push Lee out of the ring.
In the match's final moments, Spears attempted a springboard dive onto Evans, who countered with a superkick and a flying knee. With Spears dazed, Evans seized the opportunity to throw him over the top rope. This victory earned Evans the right to challenge Trick Williams for the NXT Championship at the 2024 "NXT" Heatwave event on July 7.

To kick off tonight's WWE NXT, fans were treated to surprises from TNA Wrestling as Joe Hendry and Frankie Kazarian made appearances. The opening match was a battle royal to determine the number one contender for the NXT Championship, earning a shot at Trick Williams at NXT Heatwave. Although Je'Von Evans was the
first to receive an on-screen entrance, a large field of competitors was already in the ring, including TNA's Frankie Kazarian.
The second major entrance was another big name from TNA, signaled by an iconic wrestling theme that had fans instantly recognizing Joe Hendry. The first actual elimination was Joe Hendry, who was thrown out by his fellow TNA talent, Kazarian. Despite Hendry's quick exit, Kazarian went on to have an impressive showing, eliminating Damon Kemp and Myles Borne of No Quarter Catch Crew, and making it to the final four. The final four consisted of Je'Von Evans, Frankie Kazarian, Shawn Spears, and Dragon Lee.
Ultimately, the competition narrowed down to Spears and Evans, with Evans securing the victory. As a result, he is now set to challenge Trick Williams for the NXT Championship on Sunday, July 7 in Toronto, the night following Money in the Bank.
