Apple may allow Mac users to offer more control over AirPods experience with macOS Sequoia
Apple is reportedly bringing the Headphone Accommodations feature to the Mac with macOS Sequoia. Since iOS 14, iPhone and iPad users have been able to customise their experience with AirPods and Beats headphones using this feature, which amplifies soft sounds and adjusts certain frequencies based on the user’s hearing needs.
According to a report by 9to5Mac, the Headphone Accommodations settings were visible in the first beta of macOS Sequoia, but the feature was not functional initially.
However, Apple has now fixed this issue in the second developer beta update, which the company rolled out earlier this week.

How to access Headphone Accommodations on macOS Sequoia

For users who are running the latest beta version of macOS Sequoia, they can access the Headphone Accommodations options in System Preferences > Accessibility > Audio. This feature, when enabled, makes the sound “more crisp and clear” for music, movies, calls, and podcasts.

List of devices that will support Headphone Accommodations on Mac

  • AirPods Pro (1st and 2nd generation)
  • AirPods (2nd and 3rd generation)
  • AirPods Max
  • Apple EarPods (with 3.5 mm Headphone Plug or Lightning Connector)
  • Powerbeats

macOS Sequoia: Availability and other details

Apart from Headphone Accommodations, macOS Sequoia will bring new ways for users to utilise Continuity features between their Mac and iPhone. They can now mirror and interact with their iPhone screen on their Mac.
Additionally, Apple has introduced a standalone Passwords app, allowing users to manage their passwords without third-party apps. Later this year, Apple Intelligence is also expected to bring various AI-based features to the Mac.
macOS Sequoia will be available to the public this fall. A developer preview is currently available, with a public beta set to release next month.
