The cast of ‘The Midnight Romance in Hagwon’ bid an emotional farewell as they wrapped up filming, capturing moments in a heartfelt making-of video. Directed by Ahn Pan Seok, acclaimed for dramas like ‘Something in the Rain’, the series unfolds a tender love story against the bustling backdrop of Daechi, renowned for its dense cluster of hagwons.
On June 30, the drama concluded its run with its highest ratings to date, marking a bittersweet conclusion for the team.
In the newly released video, Jung Ryeo Won, who portrays Seo Hye Jin, and Wi Ha Joon, depicting Lee Jun Ho, take viewers behind the scenes to their final day on set. They reminisce in a classroom where their characters’ romance blossomed, recalling how they first bonded during their initial shoot two months prior.
Reflecting on the end of filming, Wi Ha Joon shares his melancholy, remarking, “I’m saddened by how quickly it’s come to an end”, as quoted by Soompi. Jung Ryeo Won echoes this sentiment, expressing, “Indeed, it ended too soon”. As flower bouquets mark the conclusion on set, tears flow freely, underscoring the deep emotional investment poured into the project.
In post-filming interviews, Jung Ryeo Won reveals, “I’ve always felt a mix of emotions at the end of filming, but with this project, time passed by so quickly that it’s mostly a bitter feeling now”. She adds, “Knowing that this time will never come back, I’ll probably have strong lingering emotions”. Wi Ha Joon shares a similar feeling, lamenting, “Despite the extensive filming and dialogue across 16 episodes, it feels like it ended so swiftly. I was just getting into the groove, but now that it’s over, I’m feeling quite sad and sorrowful."
