Our CEO participated in a briefing with Mayor Karen Bass on the results of the homeless count for 2024. Things are improving. Let’s keep it going.
President/CEO at MEND - Meet Each Need With Dignity; 2022 SFV Woman of the Year; 2020 Nonprofit Leader of the Year
Yesterday I sat in on a briefing with the Mayor of Los Angeles regarding the homeless count for 2024. The good news is homelessness is down by 10.4%! Her team also shared a phone number for people facing or at risk of eviction in order to prevent more people ending up unhoused. 213-584-1808. Please Share with others. Key results from the 2024 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count: - People are moving off the streets. Street homelessness in Los Angeles has decreased by 10% – an unprecedented amount - The amount of people in shelters has increased by 17%. That means that more people are moving indoors. - The amount of makeshift shelters, cars, vans and tents have decreased overall. - More Angelenos are moving into PERMANENT housing than ever

We are so glad to have had the opportunity to partner with The Valley Economic Alliance and give the people in our community a voice.
🌟 The Valley Economic Alliance is proud to have partnered with MEND Poverty and the Gateways Employment Services (GES) team to conduct a Job Obstacle survey last week. This bi-lingual focus group gathered critical insights into the job obstacles faced by low-to-moderate-income residents in the Valley. The findings will contribute to the development of the California Jobs First Regional Plan, helping to shape Office of California Governor Gavin Newsom's strategy for job creation in an inclusive green economy. 👥 Pictured from left to right: Sebastian Araujo, Emma Berrelleza O'Brien, Sonya Kay Blake, Pamela Sierra, Francisco Gaxiola, and Charyn Harris, MBA. #InclusiveEconomy #JobCreation #CommunityFirst #GreenEconomy #CaliforniaJobsFirst
