AI, A1c, Festivities, Children & Future of Diabetes: Oct'23 Updates from Fitterfly! 🚀

November holds a special significance for all of us. Globally, the 14th of Nov marks World Diabetes Day, a day to raise awareness about a condition that affects millions. In India, this day also celebrates the spirit of childhood as Children's Day. But the irony lies in the evolving health challenges faced by our children.

A decade ago, type 2 Diabetes in children was nearly unheard of. Today, we're witnessing an alarming rise in its incidence. As the numbers of childhood obesity and poor metabolic health increase in India, so does childhood type 2 Diabetes. It deeply saddens me that even our young ones aren't spared from the clutches of metabolic diseases.

We've had doctors refer children with type 2 Diabetes to our programs, and we're proud to help them with outstanding outcomes - made possible with the unwavering support of their parents.

Here’s a snapshot of our outcomes on the children’s cases:

Diabetes Program: From 11 enrolled kids, 7 completed the program. Remarkably, all seven (100%) reported a reduction in HbA1c level with an average decrease of 1.9% in just 3 months. Majority of them did not need any medication, a kind of childhood Diabetes reversal was achieved. First such series in India using technology and DTx.

Weight Loss Program: Of the 33 kids who completed the program, 25 (75%) reported positive outcomes, shedding an average of 4.1kgs in 3 months.

These results reaffirm the power of tech-enabled lifestyle change & habit building and its pivotal role in shaping the health trajectory of our future generations.

October 2023 was another milestone month for our Diabetes Prime Community on WhatsApp. Active contributions and feedback from members have catalyzed the launch of our revamped Fitterfly Diabetes Prime program. The introduction of group classes and live masterclasses, designed to enhance engagement, adherence, and clinical outcomes, fills us with anticipation.

And, speaking of advancements, our X-Labs division hasn't missed a beat. The intersection of healthcare and technology is exciting, and we're at its forefront, exploring the role of AI in Diabetes care. If you missed our recent webinar with Dr. Om Lakhani on this topic, I encourage you to watch the recording.

Lastly, as winter draws near and with Diwali too round the corner, a word of caution. The impending foggy season, especially across north India, brings with it the challenge of smog and deteriorating air quality. Those with Diabetes face heightened risks of respiratory complications. Whether you have Diabetes or not, prioritize your respiratory health. If you're venturing out, especially during the early hours or late evenings, consider wearing an N95 or N99 mask. Protect your lungs, breathe well, and stay safe.

Wishing you and your family a very Happy and Safe Diwali in advance 😊
