Red Dust Role Models is a non-profit health promotion charity that seeks to improve the health and wellbeing of disadvantaged youth in remote communities. The organisation utilises positive health messages through the Red Dust Healthy Living Program, Strong Young Womens Program, and Strong Young Mens Program. Australian based Red Dust is driven by a commitment to decreasing the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians in terms of health and education. Red Dust complements existing health promotion programs and assists schoolteachers, healthcare workers & community leaders to encourage healthy lifestyle decisions by: • Highlighting the dangers of drug, alcohol and other substance abuse • Setting examples of healthy eating, good nutrition and proper hydration • Encouraging participation in physical exercise and sport • Teaching and modelling good hygiene practices • Raising funds for infrastructure projects • Partnering with community leaders as well as health and education professionals to launch new programs and initiatives.

DONATION CALL OUT 🔔 We have an upcoming program on the 23rd-27th September, in Mutitjulu! The program is going to hold a fashion show where the kids will strut their stuff on the red carpet! To make the fashion show possible, we are seeking donations of kids clothing...anything from t-shirts, pants, hats and shoes to long dresses and accessories. 👗🩴 If you have anything you would like to donate to the program, please send an email to [email protected]. Alongside the fashion show, the kids will be partaking in a range of healthy living activities. The activities will focus on physical and mental health as well as provide a space for kids to engage in their hobbies or interests. The community of Mutitjulu requested a fashion show be a part of this program after gaining inspiration from Minjilang's program last year (pictured below). We can't wait to share what we get up to!

Suicide Prevention Day 🌟🌏 Today is Suicide Prevention Day. It's all about raising awareness about the importance of reaching out for help and offering a hand to someone who might need it. Today's a reminder that every single one of us matters, and there's always hope, even when things seem really dark. It's important to remember that behind all those stats and news stories are real people. People with dreams, families, and yes, struggles too. Today is for them, for us, for everyone who’s had a rough go of it and needs a little light.💕 What can you do? 👫Start a conversation: the more we talk about it, the less overwhelming and scary it gets for everyone to ask for help when they need it. 🫶Reach out to someone: if you think someone is struggling, send them a message. A simple "Hey, how's it going?" can mean the world. 👂Listen: sometimes, what someone really needs is just to be heard. Listen without judging, just be there. Good communication is as much about listening as it is about talking. ❤️Encourage people to get help: getting help and addressing stresses and worries early is widely agreed to be the healthiest way to help prevent problems becoming more significant. Seeing a GP or speaking to a councillor can be a good first step. Suicide Prevention Day isn’t just a date on the calendar – it’s a nudge for us all to look out for each other and spread a bit of kindness. Let’s make sure everyone knows they’re valued, and their stories are far from over. Need to Chat? Lifeline 13 11 14 Suicide Call Back Service 1300 659 467

“On a visit with Red Dust to the remote community of Kintore, I (Andrew) was struck by the generosity of the elders in sharing their culture and their drive to support their younger generations. As one elder told me, “Red Dust is the one that cares, they visit and they stay”. We're delighted to make a bequest in our Wills so that remote communities like Kintore will benefit through the good work of Red Dust.” - Andrew O'Keeffe & Jude Tasker If you're considering leaving a gift to Red Dust Role Models in your Will, let us know and we'd love to chat to you about your intentions.
