📢 Join us on the (virtual) couch to chat with The Wyatt Trust about their exciting new Catalytic Local Investment Fund! The Wyatt Trust recently announced the Catalytic Local Investment Fund, an innovative new initiative that will invest in local business enterprises that are doing good for both people and planet. What is unique about the Fund is that it is structure agnostic, meaning the organisation requiring investment could be a standard business, social enterprise or not-for-profit. This is an exciting opportunity for South Australian social enterprises, small businesses and indigenous businesses with a strong social/environmental impact focus. The Business for Good team invite you to join us for a special On the Couch session with Stacey Thomas (CEO) and Gavin Reid (Investment Specialist) from The Wyatt Trust who will share more information about the Fund including their priority focus areas, funding available, eligibility, application processes and more. Tuesday 3rd September 2024, 10:30am-11:30am ACDT. This is a free online event for South Australian social enterprises and small businesses/Indigenous businesses with a strong social or environmental focus but places are limited and registrations are essential to receive the Zoom link. Yesterday our CEO Stacey Thomas delivered a powerful account of truth telling at Wyatt to a packed house of 1,000 delegates at the Philanthropy Australia conference here in Adelaide. We are humbled and uplifted by the overwhelming response from our peers and have published Stacey's speech on our website for anyone who wasn't in the room. Thank you to everyone who's reached out - we hope our example inspires others to begin a truth telling process of their own. #truthtelling #philanthropy https://lnkd.in/d3UmCmQf

A special thank you to our lived and living experience colleagues and sector partners who took part in the development of the Linker Network – an initiative that has been co-designed with the people it aims to help. It’s been a 2-year journey for The Wyatt Trust which has culminated in co-design, testing and evaluating solutions to positively impact poverty in South Australia with the potential of bringing about systemic change. At last month’s Linker Network conference, more than 120 people shared reflections, stories, laughter and occasional tears, particularly when we heard from lived and living experience colleagues who shared comments like this one: “Just being asked, ‘What do you need?’ – how wonderful is that?” #philanthropy #codesign #livedexperience #systemschange https://lnkd.in/gRKrGnD9

This NAIDOC week has been full of celebration and we have been honoured by the opportunity to share so many moments with friends and colleagues. The Wyatt team also had the privilege of listening and learning from Uncle Ivan as we spent a day reflecting upon and exploring ways to deepen our involvement with, and commitment to, First Nations peoples and communities. Witnessing the excellence and achievements that have been on display this week, and are there every day if you choose to see, has been a joy. #keepthefireburning #NAIDOCWeek

Our latest newsletter has updates on all recent work, including two important initiatives: The first reflects our commitment to respecting and amplifying where we can, the voices of lived and living experience. Kristian Koch, who has direct experience of homelessness, recently shared his story as part of his role as a spokesperson at the Economic Media Centre. The second initiative is Wyatt's commitment to reconciliation with the launch of our truth telling project on our website. You can read more about this work in our newsletter below and subscribe to future editions on our website. https://lnkd.in/g4DNEfsd

Leadership transition at Foundation SA: The Wyatt Trust Board of Governors is pleased to announce Sophie Doyle will step into the role of Chief Executive Officer at Foundation SA, effective May 20. “We are thrilled with the growth of Foundation SA, which, on the eve of its third birthday, has a corpus of over $3 million and has granted more than $800,000 to South Australian communities,” says Pam Simmons, Chair of The Wyatt Trust Board of Governors. The Wyatt Trust and its CEO, Stacey Thomas, who also held the role of Foundation SA CEO since its inception, will continue to provide support for the community foundation as an implementation partner. “Wyatt was proud to provide seed funding to establish Foundation SA and will remain an implementation partner out of a strong belief that others with the capacity to, would find much purpose and joy in supporting their community,” Stacey says. “The growth of Foundation SA has shown this to be true and the leadership transition confirms how quickly the Foundation is moving on its path to independence.” Sophie Doyle takes up the role after three years as Foundation SA’s Philanthropy & Engagement Manager. “The simplicity of giving through a community foundation and the collective impact we make together are the basis of Foundation SA’s success,” Sophie says. “I look forward to making philanthropy accessible to even more South Australians.” https://lnkd.in/gQxSNVci

Want to know a little more about Wyatt? Thanks to Community Centres SA and Kerrie Akkermans for the opportunity to share more about our history, and more importantly how it is informing our future. You can listen and subscribe to the Community Conversations Podcast at: https://lnkd.in/g3QDDNvi
In this episode, we are joined by Stacey Thomas, the CEO of The Wyatt Trust which is a passionate organisation that collaborates with others to amplify unheard voices, ignite compassion, and foster transparency. We discuss the insightful research being conducted to explore Dr. Wyatt's rich 50-year history in Adelaide from an Aboriginal lens. We also get a chance to chat about the incredible ways Wyatt Trust extend support to homeless, providing not only housing but also critical financial counseling. They're making a real difference by addressing poverty among women over 50 and sole parents through their community initiatives. Their ultimate goal? To wipe out poverty in South Australia in the next 100 years. What's really inspiring is their focus on sustainability in their programs, empowering individuals instead of just offering band-aid solutions. Make sure to tune in to all episodes of Community Conversations on Spotify, Apple podcasts, or visit our website to stay connected with your community. Listen here: https://lnkd.in/g6DRDKxd
