Bernard Veljacic is a judge for District 3 of the Washington Court of Appeals Division II. He assumed office on January 1, 2021. His current term ends on January 12, 2025.

Veljacic is running for re-election for the District 3 judge of the Washington Court of Appeals Division II. He is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024. The primary for this office on August 6, 2024, was canceled.

Veljacic was appointed to the court on December 8, 2020, by Gov. Jay Inslee (D) to replace Rich Melnick.[1]

Previously, Veljacic was a judge of the Clark Superior Court in Washington. He served on the court from 2014 to 2020. He was appointed by Governor Jay Inslee on April 28, 2014, to replace Rich Melnick.[2][3] He was re-elected by voters in November 2014 and 2016.[4] [5] Veljacic left office on December 31, 2020, after he was appointed to the Washington Court of Appeals.[1]

Veljacic received his J.D. from Seattle University.[2]

Career

Veljacic is a former criminal prosecutor and civil attorney. He joined the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in 2001. Prior to his appointment to the Clark Superior Court in 2014, he was the deputy civil prosecutor in Clark County.[2][6]

Washington held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. Candidates for district and superior court seats had to file for election by May 20, 2016.
