2017

Deutsch's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

"

Enhancing our Families’ Health & Safety
Council Member Chaim Deutsch’s top priority is ensuring our families are healthy and safe. That’s why he is endorsed by our City’s first responders – and he has the legislative record to prove it. Council Member Deutsch authored the law requiring the City’s Department of Transportation to notify the FDNY and NYPD of street closures in advance in order to help these heroes do their jobs, responding to emergencies and saving lives without delay. Council Member Deutsch also spearheaded the Get Alarmed NYC initiative and secured millions of dollars of funding to distribute smoke alarms to hundreds of thousands of homes across New York City. Additionally, Council Member Deutsch sponsored legislation creating the NYPD Collision Report Portal which make accident reports available online, placing less burden on the NYPD and making it easier for New Yorkers to retrieve their accident information.

Protecting Our Community’s Seniors
Council Member Chaim Deutsch fights every day to ensure that South Brooklyn’s senior citizens receive the resources they deserve. He wants every senior to be able to remain in South Brooklyn, with affordable housing options so they can live with dignity. Council Member Deutsch authored groundbreaking legislation to educate senior citizens about the dangers of common scams targeting elderly New Yorkers. Working with the New York State Office of Victim Services, Council Member Deutsch has been able to help seniors recoup their losses due to fraud. Council Member Deutsch has secured millions of dollars in funding for senior services, centers and parks frequented by elderly New Yorkers, and he fought for legislation to increase the Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption and Disability Rent Increase Exemption programs.

Ensuring a Better Education for Our Children
Council Member Chaim Deutsch knows that a child’s education is top priority for parents, and as a father and grandfather, this is near and dear to his heart. That’s why Council Member Deutsch has fought for millions of dollars in resources for South Brooklyn schools, bringing technology to the classroom and fighting to reduce class sizes. Council Member Detusch also led the fight to have CUNY report all anti-Semitic incidents on their campuses – schools, whether elementary or higher education, are no place for hate, and Council Member Deutsch will continue to stand up for students.

Improving Our Quality of Life
One of Council Member Chaim Deutsch’s top concerns is ensuring that South Brooklyn remains a great place to live, work and raise a family. He supports infrastructure investment to upgrade our community public transportation options as well as street beautification efforts. A stronger community increases home values and contributes to a sense of community. Helping the residents of South Brooklyn with their daily quality of life needs is of utmost importance to Council Member Deutsch. That’s why his Council office is one of the top two rated offices in the entire city for constituent services. Council Member Deutsch works around the clock helping constituents in need.[6]
