Jaime Tijerina (Republican Party) is a judge for Place 4 of the Texas Thirteenth District Court of Appeals. He assumed office on July 24, 2019. His current term ends on December 31, 2024.

Tijerina (Republican Party) is running for election as Chief Justice of the Texas Thirteenth District Court of Appeals. He is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024. He advanced from the Republican primary on March 5, 2024.

Tijerina was appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott (R) to succeed Rudy Delgado on the bench of the Texas Thirteenth District Court of Appeals. He previously ran for Place 4 judge in 2018, but he lost in the general election.[1]

Tijerina was the judge of Texas District 93. He was appointed to the position by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott on June 19, 2018.[2] He served on this court until January 2019.[3]

Biography

When he served on the Texas District 93, Jaime Tijerina lived in Mission, Texas. He graduated from McAllen High School. Tijerina served in the United States Army and reached the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan and was awarded a bronze star for his service. He earned a B.B.A. in business from the University of Texas - Pan American in 1991 and a J.D. from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University in 1995.[4][5]

Tijerina previously worked as a deputy city attorney with the city of Mission. Tijerina was elected to serve as the county attorney of Kenedy County.[4]
