Wade Birdwell (Republican Party) is a judge for Place 4 of the Texas Second District Court of Appeals. He assumed office in 2017. His current term ends on December 31, 2024.

Birdwell (Republican Party) is running for re-election for the Place 4 judge of the Texas Second District Court of Appeals. He is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024. He advanced from the Republican primary on March 5, 2024.

He was appointed to the position by Republican Governor Greg Abbott to succeed Bonnie Sudderth, who was elevated to Chief Justice of the court.[1]

Birdwell was formerly a judge on the Texas District 342 Court. He was appointed to this position by Governor Rick Perry in 2010. Birdwell was elected to a full term in 2012. He won re-election without opposition in 2016. The general election took place on November 8, 2016.[2]

Bildung

Judge Birdwell received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1983. He earned his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 1989.[3]

Career

Before his appointment to the Texas District 342 Court, Birdwell worked as an attorney in private practice for over 22 years. He spent most of his career defending members of the medical community in trials and appeals.[3]
