The Ghana Cocoa Traceability System is ready!✨ A delegation from European Union in Ghana, Swiss Embassy , Dutch Embassy, GIZ Ghana, Ghana Cocoa Board-COCOBOD and World Cocoa Foundation monitored the traceability chain from farm (Assin Fosu) to port (Takoradi). At Assin Fosu, over 40,000 farms have been mapped and 20,000+ farmers (40% females) registered onto the system. The system has been successfully used to purchase and ship over 1,230 bags of sustainable cocoa. By December 2024, Ghana is expected to fully operationalize the traceability system throughout the country to meet the demand of the European market. The traceability system is a gamechanger for Ghana to manage deforestation and child labor in cocoa production and promote living income among farmers. The project is supported by the European Union and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Ghana Cocoa Board-COCOBOD. #CocoaTraceability #SustainableCocoa #GhanaCocoa #BMZ #Germancooperation
