Thrilled to have participated in yesterday’s Summer Webinar Series: Reuse, Return, and Refill, hosted by WRAP, The UK Plastics Pact, and Innovate UK! The event was a fantastic opportunity to connect with Pact members and stakeholders, exploring how innovative reuse, return, and refill solutions are set to transform the packaging industry 🌟🌿 CLUBZERØ is proud to have been recognised by the Smart Sustainable Plastic Packaging (SSPP) initiative last year, the UK government’s largest and most ambitious UK government investment to date in sustainable plastics research and innovation. Its goal is to deliver cleaner growth across the supply chain, with a dramatic reduction in plastic waste entering the environment by 2025 🌍 Our Founder and CEO, Safia Qureshi, had the honor of joining a panel of industry experts, including fellow SSPP funding recipients, to share insights into our pioneering strategies and technologies. The latest study from the European Commission highlights a stark reality: In 2019, less than 20% of plastic in the EU was recycled, with a recycling rate averaging just 17% 😲 While there is potential to improve, with targets aiming for a 45% increase in recycled plastic consumption by 2025, the current rate is far from where it needs to be. We need to rethink our approach to managing plastic waste. Recycling alone is not enough to tackle the plastic crisis effectively. It's crucial to prioritise reuse over recycling. And that’s a wrap! The Championships, Wimbledon have come to an end, well done to Carlos Alcaraz and Barbora Krejcikova who have been crowned this year's champions 💚🎾 But when it comes to reducing waste, CLUBZERØ and Barclays feel like the true champions!
