❓ Did you know financial #digitalpublicinfrastructure (DPI) has enabled billions of consumers across all economies to transact digitally over the past decade? Last week, we joined panel discussions at #CPDPLatAm to discuss financial DPI & the importance of involving consumers in its design, deployment and governance. We brought the voice of consumers - from across Mexico, India, Brazil and Dominican Republic to discussions. 1️⃣ In India, our Member Citizen consumer and civic Action Group shared progress on public incentives to help more consumers use DPI, yet core challenges persist - internet access, cybersecurity & fraud. 2️⃣ In Mexico, Fiorentina García Miramón, Tec-Check spelt out the real cost of extensive transaction charges to consumers. Vulnerable consumers are being left behind. 3️⃣ In Brazil, Idec - Instituto Brasileiro de Defesa do Consumidor detailed policy efforts - namely - what more can be done to involve consumers in discussions & develop legislation that works for consumers. 4️⃣ In the Dominican Republic, good practice examples were spotlighted - private actors have been incentivised by strong consumer protection rules to prevent predatory practices. The result? Greater uptake across the population to use its DPI Realtime Payments Settlement System. For more on the case studies shared contact [email protected].

Did you know there are 1.2 billion young people aged 15-24, making up 16% of the global population? By 2030, this number will rise to nearly 1.3 billion! 🌱 Today is #WorldYouthSkillsDay. At Consumers International, we recognise the critical role youth play in driving meaningful change for sustainable development. Our Next Generation Leaders Network unites 30 young consumer advocates from 27 countries. From law and public policy to agriculture and medical biology, these future leaders are passionate about issues like #sustainableconsumption, access to #food and #healthcare, #financialservices, and more. Just last week, we connected with communities in our network to explore plastic negotiations. Empowering young people with the skills to succeed is vital. #Consumeradvocacy equips them with the knowledge to become innovators, thinkers, and problem-solvers of tomorrow. Let's support and enable our youth to harness their power and influence for a better future. 💡 #YouthEmpowerment #SustainableDevelopment #NextGeneration #ConsumersInternational #YouthLeadership Akshay Yadav Organización de Consumidores y Usuarios (ODECU) Consumer Council Sewa Nepal Zveza potrošnikov Slovenije | Slovene Consumers' Association Selangor and Federal Territory Consumers Association (SCA) Consumer Council Of Fiji Cyprus Consumers Association - Κυπριακός Σύνδεσμος Καταναλωτών

Reflecting on the incredible energy and collaboration at our recent Multistakeholder Advisory Committee Meeting. It was truly inspiring to celebrate 10 years of the Consumer Information Programme and work together to address the crucial steps leading up to the 2030 Agenda review in 6 years. Being part of the implementation of the SDGs is tremendously exciting, as these goals were established as key pillars in the Rio Declaration of 1992, signaling the urgent need for sustainable solutions. I am eagerly anticipating our continued work in the upcoming years. A special thank you to Consumers International, and especially to Helena Leurent , Peter Andrews, and Rafael Ponte Calderón, for their trust and support! #ConsumerInformationProgramme #SDGs #Sustainability"Consumers International Grace Ramsay Charlotte Broyd Jan Christian Polania Giese Arnau Izaguerri Vila Ivana Padierna Laetitia Montero Simone Wulf Camila Reinhardt Tanja Ploetz Maja-Catrin Riecher Sonia Valdivia Instituto Akatu Jaeckel Ulf Anakarina Pérez Oropeza Rijit Sengupta Archana Datta

Digitalisation and emerging tech is transforming the way consumers interact with financial services. With the gap between innovation and regulation widening, vulnerable consumers are being left behind, and traditional regulatory approaches increasingly need innovative solutions and rigorous consumer insights. We drive connection between consumer organisations, regulators, governments, and international bodies for an #inclusive, #safe, #dataprotectedandprivate and #sustainable digital finance future. Here's a snapshot from a Consumers International week in action: 💫 Responsible Finance Forum - Fortaleza Alongside our Members from Mexico and Brazil, we shared how consumer advocacy is instrumental in addressing over-indebtedness and poor transparency within digital credits systems. 🌐 ITU Global Symposium for Regulators - Kampala We connected with regulators, policy-makers and key digital stakeholders on issues like; harmonising digital finance policies across borders, gender mainstreaming, and realising the benefits of Digital Public Infrastructure. 🏛 UNCTAD Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Consumer Protection Law and Policy - Geneva We showcased the inspiring work of our #FairDigitalFinanceAccelerator, and the crucial role consumer organisations play in driving fair finance in national contexts around the world. - Find out more: https://lnkd.in/e4CnPbe9
