McDonald's sparked a frenzy after it announced it is bringing back to the UK a popular item in the United States - but only for a limited time.

The fast food giant recently updated their menu with some new options, but this surprise addition sounds like it might be a real crowd-pleaser.

According to The Mirror, the Oreo Frappe will be hitting stores on June 26, but will only be available until September 3.

The new drinks menu item features a creamy vanilla soft serve whirled with crunchy Oreo bits, all finished off with a dollop of whipped cream and an extra sprinkle of those addictive cookies.

The refreshing new drink is priced at a modest £3.09 for a small and £3.39 for a large.

McDonald's description of the beverage claims that it is the “perfect sweet drink to cool down with this summer”.

The news of the new McDonald's drink caused a frenzy on social media, as fans flooded the comments on Facebook, tagging their friends and expressing their excitement.

One user even declared their desperate need for it with an enthusiastic "Oh my god, I need!" (sic)

Another user echoed: "I will die,” while a third person added: "This looks amazing."

A fourth fan wrote: "On my birthday, what a nice little treat."

It comes nearly two months after the tasty treats landed on the menu back on April 17.

The good news follows the removal of the hugely popular Chicken Big Mac on Wednesday, May 29, along with the iconic Quarter Pounder Deluxe.

Not only that but the Galaxy Caramel Pie which first hit menus last December is also on its way out, as well as the Galaxy Chocolate McFlurry.

Biscoff fans will be sad to hear that the Frappe and McFlurry flavours are being removed from UK menus too, along with the most popular savoury snack, Cheese and Herb Melts.
