With summer in full swing, more people are heading outdoors to enjoy the warm weather, which inevitably means more sweating.

Whether you're hitting the beach, hiking trails, or simply lounging in the sun, sweaty clothes can quickly become a nuisance.

Fortunately, Martha Stewart's home hack, shared on her website, provides a simple and effective solution to remove stubborn sweat odour from your garments using common kitchen staples.

By pre-treating your clothes with baking soda or vinegar, you can ensure they stay fresh and clean all summer long.

According to Shaun Veran, a microbiologist and COO of OURA, pre-treating odorous areas with baking soda or vinegar can eliminate tough, set-in smells.

"Baking soda is a mild alkali that helps neutralise acidic odours and acts as a gentle abrasive to lift stains from the fabric," Veran explained.

On the other hand, vinegar's acidity breaks down odour-causing residues and serves as a natural fabric softener, leaving clothes clean and soft.

There are two methods to using this hack.

Baking Soda Method:

  1. Sprinkle baking soda directly onto the affected areas of the clothing.
  2. Let it sit for 15-30 minutes to absorb the odours.
  3. Gently scrub the area with a soft brush or cloth.
  4. Wash the clothing as usual in your washing machine.

Vinegar Method:

  1. Mix equal parts of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle.
  2. Spray the mixture onto the areas with set-in odours.
  3. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.
  4. Wash the clothing as usual in your washing machine.
