Training your child to sleep without nappies can be a long process – and sometimes, it can be stressful too.

Of course, accidents are normal, but it doesn’t make it any easier to clean the stains that happen when your little one wets themselves.

Before you know it, your sparkling white mattress has some unsightly stains on - but it can be restored back to its former glory.

@homewith_nadine explained that she had a mattress protector on when her child had an accident but it “went right through”, so she needed to sort it.

She said that there were also some “sweat stains” on the mattress, and she desperately needed to clean it because she’d “not done it for over six months”.

First, Nadine sprayed a stain remover on the surface of the mattress before she did the real deep cleaning.

She then got some “hot water, vanish and liquid laundry detergent”, and used a scrubbing brush to really work it into the stained mattress.

Nadine “worked that in all over the bed”, and the stains can be seen lifting before your very eyes as it began to look whiter again.

She then used an extractor, and she put the same three-ingredient concoction inside it. “You can already see a difference in the colour”, she boasted.

Nadine then got to work on her partner’s side of the bed, and she was “there for a long time” as he sweats a lot when he sleeps.

She said it’s “gross” what our mattresses hold, including “skin, dust mites”, and she said it’s “all yuck”.

She showed a before and after, and her mattress looked as good as new. Nadine then put it on the balcony for a few hours to let it dry to avoid mould and mildew taking hold.

In the comments, someone wrote: “It freaks me out that yesterday I cleaned my mattress with my Bissell spot cleaner and today I'm seeing this haha”.

Nadine replied: “Our phones literally listen to what we’re doing”, followed by a crying with laughter emoji.

Another suggested: “I like to sprinkle a mix of washing powder and baking soda on the mattress and let it sit for 30-60 minutes before vacuuming it up. Keeps it nice and fresh.”
