Corrie star petrified of reaction to Lauren Bolton’s ‘messed up’ killer Joe Deering
Calum Lil opens up about being revealed as Lauren Bolton's murder claiming he was "terrified" over the public reaction.
Coronation Street left ITV viewers astounded when Lauren Bolton's (Cait Fitton) killer was revealed leaving the actor scared of the public's reaction. In recent scenes, it was confirmed that Joel Deering, played by Calum Lil, was the murderer.
Several months ago Lauren went missing with a string of people being questioned. For weeks Roy Cropper (David Neilson) was held in prison after he was a prime suspect.
Ever since Lauren went missing, fans have been desperate to know what happened to her, and who was behind her sudden disappearance. As many rejected the idea it could have been Roy.
Many characters rushed to Roy's defence including the likes of Carla Connor (Alison King). However, their relationship has become strained which appears beyond repair.
Although some people were suspicious of Joel from the outset following his secret life. It was revealed that he had a wife and daughter despite seeing Dee Dee Baily (Channique Sterling-Brown).
He told The Metro "I think as many people as it’s thrown off the scent I think it’s made other viewers believe that they can’t trust him as he's already hurt our beloved Dee-Dee."
Before adding: "It was really useful in having a back story and background for him so I can understand how he thinks and how he ticks and his moral compass on that whole situation."
It was reported that Calum knew that he was the killer for a long time, but is relieved that the secret is now out.
Calum was under strict instructions not to tell anybody which left him "terrified" after not being able to tell his family.
He said they found out at the same time as the ITV viewers but did not suspect it was him at all.

Before sharing that they all said that they did not think he could play an "evil character like Joel".
Speaking of the public reaction Joel said he was "terrified" "but equally "relieved" that he does not need to keep it up.
At the time when he did the screen test, Joel explained how producers told him what to do and he immediately thought that the character was a "terrible person".
As far as what the future holds for Joel, Calum said that he hopes Nathan Curtin (Chris Harper) takes the blame.
