England star Jude Bellingham was spotted kicking a drinks cooler in a display of frustration after the Three Lions had suffered heartache at the hands of Spain in the Euro 2024 final on Sunday. The Real Madrid ace played the entire 90 minutes in Berlin but was unable to fire his country to victory.

Spain dominated possession at the Olympiastadion and went ahead two minutes into the second half as Nico Williams’ shot evaded Jordan Pickford.

Cole Palmer levelled the scores with a superb strike from the edge of the area, but Mikel Oyarzabal turned home the winner with four minutes remaining.

The England stars were bitterly disappointed after the final whistle had sounded, with some of them seen choking back tears. And Bellingham lashed his right foot into the drinks cooler after wandering over to the side of the pitch.

The 21-year-old had a shot that fizzled past the post during the 90 minutes of action and later threaded a sumptuous ball through to Ollie Watkins, who miscontrolled it.

But the blockbuster star will return to the Bernabeu Stadium ahead of the new La Liga season without a Euro 2024 winners’ medal to his name.

“We sacrificed a lot throughout the last weeks. It’s so tough these days with the crazy schedules and then coming together for the end of the season for one last tournament,” Bellingham told the BBC after the match.

“It’s difficult on the body. Mentally and physically you’re exhausted, but for our country we wanted to give everything.

“To lose in that way is really cruel. Again, we probably didn't play our best game, but there were definitely some good moments and we felt like we got back into the game. And then to kind of be sucker-punched with the late goal, it's heartbreaking.

“We all wanted nothing more than to make history and to make the people of England proud and we haven’t managed to do it - we didn't quite deliver.

“There are reasons for that. As a team going forward we’ll analyse it. It’s a young group still. It’s really disappointing because at some point we do have to deliver. But there are experiences and there are things we can take from this tournament going forward.

“If you look at everything negatively, nothing will ever change. So it’s important we pick the positives and the negatives together and find a way to one day get England over the line.”
