NCMEC was honored to attend the closing bell ceremony at the NYSE to celebrate Old Navy's 30th birthday and commemorate the rich history and unique culture of this iconic American brand. Old Navy’s most recent Kid’s Safety Day (May, 2024), raised $1Million+ for NCMEC!

On August 20, 2024, while assisting the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit with a search warrant; Carroll County, GA Sheriff Investigator Taylor Bristow was shot by the perpetrator who then took his own life. Investigators seized multiple electronic devices that contained child sexual abuse material from the scene. Sheriff Investigator Taylor Bristow succumbed to his wounds on August 23, 2024. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children- NCMEC- honors Sheriff Investigator Taylor Bristow and all those who have given their lives in the line of duty to combat child sexual exploitation, prevent child victimization and find missing children. UNIDENTIFIED IN NEW MEXICO On May 2, 1996, the decomposed body of an unidentified female was found in a desert area near 98th and Tower Road in #Albuquerque, New Mexico. The victim’s body had been wrapped in 6 dark trash bags, tied with a green electrical wire. The victim is believed to have been a white female between 14 and 19 years of age. She was between 5’2” and 5’4” with light brown hair and dark eyes. She was found wearing light blue Levi 550 jeans, a V-neck ribbed sweater, and a black lace bra. Survivors of child sexual abuse may not come forward due to fear of not being believed, shame, fear of repercussions, or not recognizing what happened to them as abuse. We need to normalize a culture of disclosure to help survivors feel comfortable sharing their truth.
