Face The Fight has accomplished a great deal in just one year. In addition to raising awareness of veteran suicide and working to reduce the stigma of seeking mental health support within our military community, we have also scaled evidence-informed interventions. Since our launch in 2023, Face the Fight has worked to ensure that: ✔️15,000 veterans were screened for suicide risk ✔️5,000+ veterans received suicide-specific interventions ✔️130 mental health clinicians were trained to deliver suicide-specific treatments We invite you to take a deeper look into our journey and the progress we've made to #FaceTheFight against veteran suicide. https://lnkd.in/eHmbZAxt #FTF #Veterans #MilitaryCommunity #MentalHealthSupport

Congratulations to USAA – our founding partner in Face the Fight – for receiving the Public Service Lifesaver Award from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). This honor recognizes leading advocates striving to prevent suicide and create national attention and action for mental health. In 2023, Reach Resilience joined USAA, Humana, and The Elizabeth Dole Foundation to launch Face the Fight, a national coalition dedicated to dramatically reducing veteran suicide by bringing groups together across sectors to tackle this complex issue and broaden support for veterans and military families. Since 2001, over 120,000 veterans have died by suicide – more than the military lives lost in Vietnam and Afghanistan combined. As we mark the first year of Face the Fight, we are encouraged by the increasing awareness of veteran suicide and the growing urgency to address this national crisis. And we are inspired by the legacy of incredible organizations like AFSP, which was founded in 1987 by scientists and families affected by suicide as the first nationally focused nonprofit committed to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education, and advocacy. Our collective work is needed more than ever. And together, united in partnership and purpose, we can save lives and advance change for all.

Today and everyday, we stand together with the nation in saluting the extraordinary men and women who have dedicated their lives to serve and protect our great nation. On this #VeteransDay, Reach Resilience proudly recognizes their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment. In particular, we want to recognize our Board Chairman, Major General Alfred K. Flowers, Sr., a true American hero. As a Vietnam veteran, Distinguished Service Medal recipient, and Officer Training School graduate with 46 years of service, he embodies the values of honor, leadership, and resilience that our veterans represent.   As we continue our efforts with USAA and Humana Foundation to #FacetheFight and reduce veteran suicide, we encourage you to join us by reaching out to veterans in your network and offer support. When we face this fight together, there is hope.
