Charles Cerino was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer after a routine follow-up ordered by his primary care physician. “I started off with 36 infusions, 28 radiation treatments, and then I had surgery to remove the back half of my pancreas," Charles said. Although his treatment went very well, Charles would receive more concerning news regarding his heart and later need surgery soon after. Today, women represent nearly half of all workers in the United States. Medical science has long recognized that the health needs of women are significantly different than men. In addition to the obvious differences involving reproduction and gynecological care, many “general health” issues, like cardiovascular and mental health, present much differently in women than men. So, where do employers start to make their workplace a healthier one for women? TriHealth CEO Mark C. Clement, together with Dr. Kristin Coppage, Director of Women’s Services at TriHealth co-authored an article to hopefully shed light on understanding the needs – and the differences – in segments of our community, whether it be about gender, race, ethnicity or identity.
