With the #EUCancerPlan, we continue to forge our actions, especially for children. Happy International Dog Day! 🐶 Today we celebrate our furry friends who bring love into our lives, but also a great opportunity to reflect on our responsibility to ensure their well-being.   Welfare of dogs (and cats!) is important to the EU and its citizens. Earlier this year, we proposed the first-ever EU legislation to establish uniform standards for the care, housing, and handling of these beloved pets across all Member States. 🐾   💡 What are the key highlights of the new rules? - Stricter standards for breeding establishments, pet shops, and shelters to ensure consistent care across the EU. - New rules to regulate breeding (and certain breeding practices prohibited). - Strict traceability requirements, especially for online sales, to combat illegal trade and ensure prospective owners can verify the origin of their pets. - Reforms to contribute to the overall improvement of the welfare of cats and dogs.   Read more about the proposal 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e2x2WKuM #EU4AnimalWelfare

If you’re part of the food supply chain or just passionate about sustainability – this is for you.   Who can apply? 🙋♂️ Single stakeholders or multi-stakeholder collaborations or partnerships across the food supply chain, including key actors such as farmers, manufacturers, retailers, food services as well as researchers, NGOs and public entities (e.g. local, regional or national authorities, educational establishments) Scope 👇 A wide range of actions are eligible, such as: - behavioural change interventions (e.g. coaching programmes); - education and training (e.g. school programmes, staff training); - awareness raising campaigns; - measurement and reporting tools and solutions for preventing food waste at consumption level (e.g. mobile applications); - studies, data collection, widening the evidence base for consumer food waste prevention interventions (e.g. audience segmentation studies) etc. Budget: 4 million euros (2024-2026) 💸 Co-funding rate: 50% Apply before 25 September 2024!
