• TEACHER TIPS

• The owl says, “It’s time to get foul, fowl!” Have students
sound out the words. Why do they think these words sound
the same even though they are spelled differently and mean
different things?

• Explain what a homophone is and brainstorm a list of

homophones with students.

• Assign students an animal from the story and have them act
out the scene. Then have them write their own dialogue.
