Shark's corded vacuum cleaner is available for around £250 at the time of writing, but there's a chance it will go on sale for Prime Day. It also has a detachable handheld cleaner designed to battle nasties lying on your stairs, furniture or inside a car.

We measured the power cord at 10.9 metres, which means you shouldn't need to change to a closer socket too often. Other notable features include a flexible wand for reaching under the sofa and anti-odour tech for dealing with pet smells.

3. Miele Triflex HX2

Miele Triflex HX2

A bagless model with an electro brush, upholstery nozzle, crevice tool, a carpet brush bar and a separate nozzle holder for accessories. The unit can be mounted to a wall if you fancy freeing up floor space.
