Vacuuming isn't the most enjoyable task, but it's much easier with the right model. Based on the number of visits to our vacuum cleaner reviews this year, we've built a list of the most popular corded and cordless models among Which? users.

However, 'popular' and 'impressive' can mean different things, so consult our expert reviews before you consider buying. We pay attention to the features that matter most – cleaning performance on various surfaces, ease of use, energy consumption and more.

1. Shark HZ3000UKT

• Type: Corded, handstick
• Dust capacity: 0.8 litres (small in context)

Shark's corded vacuum cleaner is available for around £250 at the time of writing, but there's a chance it will go on sale for Prime Day. It also has a detachable handheld cleaner designed to battle nasties lying on your stairs, furniture or inside a car.

We measured the power cord at 10.9 metres, which means you shouldn't need to change to a closer socket too often. Other notable features include a flexible wand for reaching under the sofa and anti-odour tech for dealing with pet smells.

2. Vax Pace Pet CLSV-VPKA

If you're shopping for an affordable vacuum cleaner, this cordless Vax could be worth a look. A sizable number of Which? users have read our full review this year.

To help you tackle your to-do list, it comes with a mini motorised pet tool, a charger, a wall mount, a 2-in-1 crevice tool, a dusting brush, and a battery. When tackling the smaller corners of your home, you can try using it as a handheld vac.

3. Miele Triflex HX2

A bagless model with an electro brush, upholstery nozzle, crevice tool, a carpet brush bar and a separate nozzle holder for accessories. The unit can be mounted to a wall if you fancy freeing up floor space.

The shapeshifting design lets you attach the power unit either at the top or bottom of the vacuum, depending on the area you intend to clean. You can also use this Miele in handheld mode.

4. Shark Stratos Pet Pro AZ3000UKT

• Dust capacity: 4.2 litres (large in context)

This upright vacuum cleaner has a larger dust compartment than many of its rivals. The box includes a crevice tool, pet brush, multi-surface tool, and odour cartridge.

For those times when you need to tackle smaller cleaning tasks, the main unit can be detached, transforming this Shark into a handheld cleaner. It also uses the brand's Anti Hair Wrap tech, which is designed to remove hair from the brush roll to prevent tangles. A bagless vacuum cleaner that has a detachable unit for use in handheld mode, which is useful if you're dealing with tall surfaces. It comes bundled with a crevice nozzle, an upholstery nozzle, a furniture brush and a mini turbo tool for pet hair.

Based on visits to our product reviews, this Samsung model is the brand's most popular vacuum cleaner in 2024. Like most cordless vacs, it comes with a removable handheld helper that helps you deal with tight corners. You also get a pet tool, a crevice tool, a combination tool and a flex tool for harder-to-reach areas.

This Samsung has an LCD display that you can use to adjust the suction levels. It also displays information on battery status – you'll have to check in with our full review to see how long it lasts on a single charge.

7. Samsung Jet 70 Turbo VS15T7031R4

• Dust capacity: 0.8 litres

The cheapest Samsung Jet vacuum cleaner in our list of popular models. It has four power settings to experiment with – max, mid, min and wet. Wet mode uses the brand's ‘Spinning Sweeper’ accessory, which can be bought separately and used to mop your hard floors.

Along with the vacuum, you get a crevice tool, plus a dusting and upholstery combi tool. The charging station can be wall-mounted or left freestanding.

8. Samsung Jet 85 Complete VS20C8524TB

• Dust capacity: 0.9 litres

Add this cordless Samsung to your cleaning arsenal and you have a choice of two brushes. The Jet Dual Brush is designed for carpets and hard floors. The slim LED brush for hard floors uncovers dust in dark areas – useful if you're daring to dive beneath the sofa.

9. Shark NZ860UKT

This Shark model has proved popular with Which? users this year. It's currently up for grabs at around £240, but the price has previously dropped to £219 on Amazon.

The Shark NZ860UKT has a unique cartridge system inside, which aims to tackle bad odours commonly caused by pet hair and dust. Meanwhile, the floorhead is equipped with LED headlights to illuminate dust and dirt desperately trying to hide from you.

A cordless Shark vacuum cleaner designed to help pet owners tackle fur hidden around the house. It has a crevice tool, a multi-surface tool and a pet tool.

Whether you're tackling the stairs or freshening up your car, you can use this cordless model in handheld mode to make the job easier. The LED display shows battery life, suction levels and floor-type options, and you can choose between eco, deep clean and boost power modes.
