Which? welcomes the DMCC Bill to report stage. This report stage briefing sets out the key provisions relevant to our work.

The cost-of-living crisis has heightened the need to address the rip-offs, scams and rogue traders that cause consumers misery. It is estimated that up to a third of people experience at least one problem with a product or service every year and consumers suffer harm worth £54bn a year.

The DMCC Bill has the potential to update and modernise the UK’s competition and consumer laws and create a world leading regulatory framework. We support this Bill, but following Government amendments in the week beginning 13th November, believe Parliament should retain key provisions in Part One of the Bill, and strengthen other parts to properly safeguard consumer interests.
